A Walk Through the American Revolution

Exciting News! We've scheduled a wonderful program, Walk Thru the American Revolution, for our 5th graders. It will take place on Feb. 18th, 2014, with the time to be determined.

This program involves your child in the American Revolution, the war that earned our freedom from Great Britain, and set up the new America as a free nation.

This is a participatory program, which means your child will be performing a role during the presentation. Characters will be chosen soon, and rehearsals will be held in class to ensure that they all have time to prepare for their performance. Your children will need to create a costume based on their character. More news about that will be coming. Costumes are not mandatory, but it earns the teams extra points, and it really helps the kids feel their roles more fully. Many costumes can be made easily.

You will receive an invitation to watch the performance, but the company that provides the program does not all videotaping, and no other children can be brought to the presentation. Still pictures are allowed, however.  As more information becomes available, I'll post it here, and send home notices.

We've done this program many times in the past, and it's always been a success for our students. They get to feel a closer connection to the founding of this country, and they have fun playing characters out of history. I hope you'll be able to come and watch the program and your child.
